Founded in 2016, C.E.G.E.D.I (Industrial Waste Management Center – Solid, Liquid, and Organic) aims to provide eco-responsible waste management services for both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. In addition, the company offers advisory and support services to businesses, raising awareness and providing training on waste sorting and composting for better management of organic waste.

Waste management can represent a significant burden for companies.
They often generate large amounts of waste that sometimes require specific handling and treatment.
The driving force behind the creation of CEGEDI came from the observation of a lack of adequate options and services enabling waste producers to manage their waste in compliance with current environmental standards.
As a result, this situation often leads to inappropriate waste disposal solutions and environmental degradation.
CEGEDI’s mission is to provide companies with concrete and environmentally sound solutions to help them comply with existing environmental regulations.
CEGEDI operates according to the “Polluter Pays” principle.
Although CEGEDI is authorized to manage industrial waste, our company does not limit its activities exclusively to this category. In fact, many businesses also generate non-hazardous waste similar to household waste (glass, paper/cardboard, plastics, etc.).
Our project aims to establish the first recycling center in the country. We are committed to setting up waste recovery units to transform the waste we collect into secondary raw materials that can be reintroduced into new production cycles.
This model, based on the principles of the circular economy, not only maximizes the potential of waste by turning it into marketable by-products (economic benefit) but also significantly contributes to environmental protection by diverting a considerable portion of waste from landfills and incineration (environmental benefit)
The services provided by CEGEDI generate a range of beneficial outcomes, the effects of which go far beyond the scope of our company alone. It is important and appropriate to highlight these.
Social Impact
One of the most tangible impacts of CEGEDI’s activities is job creation. These are primarily low-skilled positions at the sorting and storage sites. Specifically, ten people—mostly young individuals from the Maferinyah area—have been employed.
This is noteworthy given the particularly challenging socio-economic context in Guinea, where youth unemployment is a serious issue.
It should also be noted that these are formal jobs, compliant with current safety standards, which will help to train and enhance the skills of young people in a promising sector.
Environmental Impact
By providing our services to various companies generating large amounts of waste, our activities have a direct effect in combating pollution and contributing to public hygiene. We help relieve our clients of a heavy burden by offering practical and formal solutions for waste management. Our services ensure that all of their waste is properly treated—recycled or disposed of according to regulations. This type of service was previously non-existent in Guinea.
Furthermore, CEGEDI is developing alternatives to informal landfill dumping and incineration, which are common methods with catastrophic effects on the environment, including air, soil, and groundwater pollution, all of which harm human health.
Finally, recycling and recovering waste, and reintroducing it into production cycles as Secondary Raw Materials (SRM), helps to reduce pressure on natural resources.
CEGEDI’s recycling center project is a first in Guinea. Beyond Guinea, the subregion as a whole suffers from a lack of sustainable waste management solutions. We encountered this reality while seeking treatment solutions for the waste we store—very few options exist.
The CEGEDI project is therefore an absolute necessity. Moreover, Guinea is a mineral-rich country (mainly bauxite, iron, gold, and diamond), attracting many extractive companies and inevitably generating large volumes of waste, including hazardous waste.
Adapted solutions must be provided to waste producers to enable them to comply with waste management legislation and ensure environmental protection.
Economic Impact
Our goal is to develop waste recovery processes never before implemented in Guinea. Recycling and recovery are the first steps in transitioning from a linear economy to a circular economy.
CEGEDI aims to become a key player driving this paradigm shift in Guinea.
In doing so, CEGEDI will directly contribute to value creation. Recycling activities (selling as SRM or other forms of recovery) will restore commercial value to waste, effectively turning a problem into a solution.
Given the scarcity of raw materials and the costs of transport and imports, the benefits are both ecological and economic.
In the medium term, our aim is to stimulate the development of an entire waste management sector (from consumers/waste generators → collectors → recyclers → industrial buyers of SRM, etc.).
